Seguin TX Earth Sheltered Home

Marlin and Christa have an excellent earth sheltered home in Seguin, TX that helped answer a lot of questions we had before we began.

hi, I have an earth shelter house which has been leaking lots and lots when we have a heavy rain of lots of melting snow. These types of homes are not mainstream and I have no idea how (or what) to do to fix it. some dirt was dug by the pipes on top, and they found no black mesh, tar, and styrofoam that was not waterproof. It needs to fixed asap. I don't have much money.

I am sorry to hear about your problems and doubt they will be inexpensive to fix. When our contractor built our house we were there every day watching and saw all the waterproofing measures he took. I expect that you will need to find someone who does this kind of work. Seems to me to finally fix it you may either have to remove all the dirt and apply proper waterproofing, or possibly you could figure out a way to install a conventional roof over the earth shelter. Neither is going to be cheap.
