The front porch is an excellent place to watch people and Texas thunderstorms. In the humidity the outside fan is a real plus, something we never would have thought of coming from Oregon.
The house looks better with some vegetation around and upon it. The locals think they are weeds, but they are really native wooly croton, also known as dove weed since it attracts them with its seeds. From our point of view anything with roots gets to stay to hold down erosion. When the rains begin we will begin the landscaping.

Your house looks great! I have just built one in Florida that used an identical form. It doesn't look like there is a cap along the parapet wall, I was just wondering how the membrane is attached up there?
You are correct, there is no cap. One is not needed, since we did not use a membrane type of waterproofing. Instead, we used a thick emulsion that was sprayed on, after we painted it onto any seams, cracks and found leaks during leak test. We have had no problems at all (of course, we have been in a drought in TX!) We have, though, been irrigating the roof with no problems.

Great looking house ! from one earth sheltered family to another. Don't yopu just lopve these places! I don't think I could ever live in anything else now that we live here in ours. If for no other reason than the energy savings and here in Alaska that means a LOT ! :)
