Floor Plan

I thought it might be of interest and helpful in viewing the blog if there was a floor plan for reference. I designed the house after learning the required parameters for the actual construction. The plan has a few minor discrepancies with regard to measurements, but not more than a few inches. My design program does not allow me to show the 4' and 8' overhangs which surround the west and south sides.

When finished we will backfill the entire north side and part of the east side all the way to the roof, which will also have about 3' of earth on top. The north side is dug back into a hill, so from the street it will just look like a few low mounds (with vent pipes, etc.) covered with buffalo grass.

Hello Mike. Site and home look great. I'll be keeping up on the build process. I've added your link to my Blog site, also. Good luck.

I'm impressed. I guess my only comment would be the lack of a window/s in the bedroom but understand that would be a bit difficult with the setup as you describe it. I still like a window open at night while I'm sleeping. Some habits die hard. I look forward to seeing future photos of your progress.

The master bedroom has a 6'x5' fixed window with a door alongside. We may put a screen on the door for air flow. The window by the bath sinks is a 2'x4' casement window which will allow air to move through the bedroom area. We will also have a fan over the bed which will be on all the time.

There will also be a whole house fan which will allow us to pull air through the house from the window of our choice.
